On Thursday, August 29, 2024, we had the unique opportunity to collaborate with the Police ČR at the Jihlava test track, where we simulated a traffic accident involving two vehicles at an intersection. This experiment is part of the AutoCrash project, a groundbreaking initiative using artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance the analysis and reconstruction of car accidents.
The simulation wasn’t just another routine test but a significant leap towards innovation in traffic accident reconstruction. During this experiment, the Police ČR carried out the procedures typically conducted at real-life accident scenes, providing a realistic foundation for our technology to shine.
At DataVision, we focused on creating advanced visual documentation using cutting-edge tools, including 360-degree photographic documentation of the accident scene. This immersive visualization is far more than just a static picture—it allows us to reconstruct the accident in a fully interactive 3D model using AI technology.
What makes this method revolutionary is its potential to offer a wide range of applications, including:
Measuring brake marks and analyzing vehicle trajectories.
Assessing the relative positions of vehicles before and after impact.
Verifying the accident’s compatibility by comparing vehicle deformation with standard collision patterns.
Marking damaged areas, estimating the extent of the damage, and simulating the accident sequence.
Our approach not only provides a detailed description of the accident but also generates comprehensive documentation rooted in visual and data-driven analysis. The next step in this project will involve presenting our results to the Police ČR, where we will demonstrate the accuracy and depth of the insights gained using these advanced technologies.
This experiment represents a substantial advancement in traffic accident analysis and reconstruction, and we look forward to sharing more detailed results soon. Stay tuned for updates on how this innovation is reshaping the future of accident analysis!
